Kampono House

Kampono House explores the idea of bringing Bali to Jakarta—creating a home that carries the atmosphere of Bali while responding to its urban setting. Rather than limiting the Balinese expression to the façade, we extended the concept throughout the residence, from its spatial arrangement and interiors to the open-air swimming pool, creating a more complete tropical living experience.

The house is organized across three levels, carefully connected through both vertical and horizontal relationships. The ground floor accommodates the service areas, designed with equal attention to comfort and functionality for the staff who support the daily life of the house. The first and second floors become the primary living spaces, where Balinese character is interpreted through a contemporary lens, creating a balance between the island’s architectural identity and modern urban living.

Natural materials form the foundation of the material palette. Earth-toned finishes and natural stone, including Paras Jogja, introduce warmth and texture while reinforcing the tropical character of the residence. By extending the Balinese character from architecture into the interiors and outdoor spaces, we sought to make the concept of bringing Bali to Jakarta an experience that could be felt throughout the home. This approach was recognized at the IAI Bali Award 2022, where Kampono House was named among the Top 2 works in the Karya Arsitek di Luar Bali category, Sub-category: Residence.
